Adrian’s assistant searched through the company building but found no sign of Lopez. He checked the lobby, the hallways, and even outside. He still didn't see her.
Finally, he approached the security men at the entrance.
“Did any of you see a lady leave just now? Long dark hair, pink dress.”
The guards exchanged glances before shaking their heads.
“No, sir.”
Frustration crept into his face.
He searched one last time, still nothing. It was as if she had vanished.
Minutes later, he returned to Adrian’s office. “I’m sorry, sir. I couldn’t find her.”
Adrian looked up sharply.
“You found nothing?”
“No, sir.”
Adrian’s expression darkened. “Not even her name?”
His assistant swallowed. “No, sir.”
Adrian leaned back in his chair, jaw tight. “This is bad. Very bad, I can’t let Lucas win.” He whispered to himself. Not now. Not after everything.
“I can’t let that old fox take this company from me,” he muttered again.
After a moment, he stood up. If he couldn’t find the girl, then maybe he could still convince Lucas to change the condition.
“Is Uncle Lucas in his office?”
“He should be, sir.”
Adrian immediately strode out.
Meanwhile, Lopez was still hopelessly lost. She walked through another hallway lined with offices.
“This building is ridiculous.” She turned in frustration.
“What kind of place is this?”
Then her eyes landed on a nameplate. Lucas West— Administrator
Lopez frowned.
“Administrator?” She turned her head.
“Well… whoever that is should at least know where the exit is.”
She raised her hand to knock. Before she could, the door swung open and Lucas stepped out.
He frowned. Then he recognized her.
“You?”
Lopez blinked. “Oh. It’s you again.”
Lucas narrowed his eyes.“What are you doing here?”
Lopez sighed. “I need help.”
Lucas stared at her. Then suddenly burst into laughter.
“I knew it.”
Lopez frowned. “Knew what?”
“That cunning nephew of mine was lying.”
Lopez grew even more confused. “Excuse me?”
Lucas smirked. “Did he threaten you? Force you? Offer you money?”
Lopez blinked. “What?”
Lucas folded his arms. “You came to ask me for help getting away from him, didn’t you?”
Lopez rubbed her temple. This company is full of crazy people.
“No.”
She took a breath. “That’s not it.”
Lucas raised a brow.
“I got lost.”
There was a moment of silence. Then Lucas stared at her.
“Lost?”
“Yes.”
Lopez pointed at his office.
“I saw the word administrator and thought someone here might help me find the exit.”
Lucas studied her for some time, then he chuckled.
“Lost in my building.”
His amusement deepened.
“Well, that’s new.”
Lopez’s patience was running thin.
“Can you please just tell me how to get out?”
Lucas smiled at her.
“Or…” He stepped closer.
“I can help you escape whatever trouble Adrian is trying to drag you into.”
“What is going on here?”
Lopez froze. She recognized that voice instantly. She turned. It was Adrian, there he was.
His expression was dark. His eyes moved between both of them.
“I thought you left.”
Lopez folded her arms. “Well, I got lost.”
Adrian raised a brow. “In my company?” He narrowed his eyes.“How dumb are you?”
Lopez’s jaw dropped.
Lucas immediately spoke.
“You don’t speak to a woman like that.”
Adrian looked at him coldly. “It’s none of your business how I speak to my woman.”
Lopez snapped. “Your woman?”
Lucas smirked. “You see? I was just asking if you forced her.”
Adrian scoffed.
“Typical.”
He turned to Lopez. “Come with me.”
Lucas spoke again. “You still haven’t answered me, young lady.”
Lopez exhaled sharply. She was tired, and extremely annoyed.
She looked at Lucas. “Ask him yourself.”
Adrian suddenly laughed. A real laugh for the first time.
Even Lucas looked irritated.
Adrian grabbed Lopez’s arm. “Let’s go.”
Lucas clenched his jaw. As they walked away, he called after them.
“Go straight, take the first left, and follow the exit signs.”
Then he added mockingly— “That shouldn’t be too hard.”
The moment they were out of Lucas’s sight, Lopez yanked her arm away.
“Stop doing that.”
Adrian looked at her. “Doing what?”
“Calling me your woman.”
Her frustration exploded. “I am not your woman.”
She pointed toward Lucas’s office.
“I don’t know what kind of weird fight you have with your administrator—”
“My uncle,” Adrian corrected.
“Whatever.”
She threw her hands up. “I don’t care.”
She continued angrily.
“I came here looking for a job.”
She started counting with her fingers. “First, your secretary insults me.”
“One.”
“Then I get dragged into your family drama.”
“Two.”
“Then I get lost in this giant building.”
“Three.”
She glared at him.
“Everybody here is weird.” She exhaled.
“I just want to leave.”
There was a moment of silence. Adrian stared at her.
Lopez folded her arms.
“So show me the exit.”
Adrian’s expression remained unreadable, then he spoke.
“If you don’t like ‘my woman’…”
He stepped closer.
Lopez frowned.
“…we can change it.”
She narrowed her eyes. “To what?”
Adrian’s gaze locked on hers.
“My wife.”
Lopez froze. Her heart skipped a beat.
“What?”
Adrian’s voice was calm, firm. Dangerously serious.
“Marry me.”
