As Asher refused to leave, I couldn't help but feel a sense of frustration. I had tried everything to get him to leave, but he was stubborn and wouldn't budge. I knew that I had to find some means to make him give up. I couldn't have him staying in my castle forever, causing trouble and making me feel uncomfortable. So I decided to take matters into my own hands. I would find a way to make him give up and leave, no matter what it took.
I began to brainstorm different ideas, trying to think of something that would make Asher realize that he had to leave. Maybe I could offer him more money to leave. Or maybe I could threaten him with legal action. But then I shook my head, feeling a sense of frustration. None of these ideas seemed to be working. Asher was too stubborn and too determined to stay.
The following day, I woke up early the next morning and decided to go to the breakfast room for some tea. As I entered, I saw Asher sitting at the table with my father, Xavier Nightshade.
I couldn't believe my luck. Why did he have to be here? And why did my father invite him to join us for breakfast?
I tried to keep my expression neutral as I walked over to the table. "Good morning, Daddy," I said, pouring myself a cup of tea.
"Good morning, Scarlett," he said. "I hope you slept well. And this is Asher, your new bodyguard. Did he introduce himself to you last night?”
I forced myself to smile politely at Asher. "Yes, he did. Good morning, Asher," I said, taking a sip of tea.
"Good morning, Princess," he said, nodding his head respectfully.
I could feel his eyes on me, and it made me feel uncomfortable. I didn't want him here, watching my every move and invading my privacy. But then my father began to talk to Asher about his duties as my bodyguard, and I found myself becoming more interested in the conversation. Asher seemed to know what he was talking about, and he was clearly dedicated to his job.
As we began to eat, I found myself becoming more and more agitated. Asher was sitting too close to me, and he kept glancing in my direction. So, I decided to do something to make him go away. I pretended to accidentally spill the contents of my cup on him, hoping that it would embarrass him enough to make him leave. But as the liquid spilled onto his trousers, I realized that I had made a mistake. Asher looked up at me, his eyes narrowed in anger.
"Why did you do that?" he asked, his voice sharp.
I could feel my cheeks growing hot with embarrassment. I hadn't meant for things to go this far. "I'm sorry," I said, feeling a sense of shame. "I didn't mean to spill it on you."
Asher didn't seem convinced. He wiped the liquid from his pants and stood up from the table. "I think I'll go change," he said, his voice cold.
As he walked out of the room, I felt a sense of guilt wash over me. What had I done? Why had I let my anger get the best of me? When I glanced at my father, he was obviously disappointed, but then he was always disappointed in me, so what’s the difference?
“Go and apologize, Scarlett. What did you do to the poor man?” Xavier Nightshade inquired.
“I don’t want him here, Daddy, so why should I apologize to him?”
“My God, Scarlett! Will you please grow up? You are no longer a child to have this kind of tantrum. When I told you to go and apologize to him, it was an order,” he stated.
After my father’s outrage, I found myself walking out of the room.
As I was leaving the breakfast room, my father, Xavier Nightshade, called out to me. "Scarlett ," he said, his voice stern. “Make sure that he wouldn’t quit from his job,” he warned me.
“It wouldn’t be my fault if he will quit, Daddy,” I told him.
“Then, I will have no choice but to send you to a boarding school again because it seems that you haven’t learned your lesson well,” he threatened me.
When he mentioned about the boarding school, I knew I had to follow his wishes. My time in the boarding school was the most unforgettable experience in my life, and I didn’t want to go there again.
Why did I have to apologize? Asher was the one at fault! But I knew that I had no choice. My father's orders were not to be disobeyed. So I set off after Asher, my heart beating fast in my chest. I had no idea what I was going to say to him. As I caught up to him in the hallway, I could feel his eyes on me.
"What do you want?" he asked, his voice cold.
I took a deep breath, feeling a sense of nervousness. "I... I wanted to apologize," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Asher looked at me, his expression skeptical. "Apologize for what?" he asked.
I felt a sense of shame wash over me. "For spilling the drink on you," I said, feeling my cheeks grow hot with embarrassment.
Asher looked at me for a moment longer, and then he sighed. "Fine," he said. "Apology accepted. But you have to understand something, Scarlett. I won’t tolerate this kind of childishness anymore. Go back to the breakfast room and I will join you shortly,” he added.
As soon as he turned his back from me, I was so stunned to speak. Did he just order me around? Why would he even do that? Why did he has the audacity to act so high and mighty when he was just a bodyguard? For goodness sake, I was really dumbfounded at the man’s attitude. When I returned to the breakfast room, my father, Xavier Nightshade, looked up in surprise.
"Scarlett," he said, his voice puzzled. "I thought you had gone to your room after talking to Asher. Did you apologize to the poor man?”
“I did,” I replied, and as soon as I was seated, a servant came to serve my food.
As I sat back down at the table, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. What was Asher up to? Why did he want me to come back?
Then, I looked at the plate in front of me, I couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment. The food being served was the same as it had been every day for the past week.
I frowned as I looked at the plate in front of me. It was the same food that we had eaten yesterday and the day before that. I looked up at my father, who was sitting across from me. "Don't you get tired of the same food every day?" I asked, my voice tinged with annoyance, but he just shrugged his shoulders. So, I glanced at Asher and asked him.
Asher shrugged his shoulders, too. "It's not my place to complain about the food," he said. "I'm just here to do my job."
Was he always going to be so uptight? Was he never going to let loose and have some fun? As breakfast continued, I found myself becoming more and more bored. The conversation was the same as it had been every day, and the food was just as repetitive.
I decided to take matters into my own hands. As the meal ended, I stood up from the table. "I'm going for a walk," I said, my voice firm. "I need to get out of this place for a while."
Asher looked at me, his expression serious. "I'll come with you," he said.
Why couldn't he just let me have some time alone? Why did he always have to be hovering over me? But as we walked through the castle grounds, I found myself becoming more and more relaxed.
The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the flowers were in bloom. It was the perfect day for a walk. As we reached the fountain, I stopped and turned to Asher. "Why don't you go for a swim?" I said, my voice playful.
Asher looked at me, his expression puzzled. "In the fountain?" he asked.
I nodded my head, feeling a sense of excitement building within me. "Yes, in the fountain," I said. "It'll be fun,” I said before pushing him and he fell into the water with a loud splash.
"Are you okay?" I asked, my voice tinged with worry.
Asher looked up at me, water dripping from his hair and clothes. "I'm fine," he said, his voice slightly shaky. "Just a bit surprised, that you can be so wicked as to push me into the water."
I couldn't help but let out a small giggle. "You squealed like a little girl," I teased, my voice playful.
As Asher stormed off back to the main house, I giggled some more. It was really my intention to piss him off, and I believed I did a good job in doing just that.
However, as I made my way back to my room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt. I had been so focused on making him give up without even considering that he might need the job to feed his family.
When I got to my room, I decided to write him a letter because I could not say in person. I poured my heart out, apologizing for everything I had done wrong and expressing my hope that we could find a way to work together.
But as I left my room and walked down the hallway, I saw Asher standing there, glaring at me. His expression was fierce, and I could feel the anger radiating off of him. Maybe things were too far gone. Maybe I had done too much damage. But then, to my surprise, Asher spoke up.
“How can you be so evil?” he asked, before walking away, and totally ignoring me.
