Earlier, against my better judgment, I had given in to Asher's plea for me to stay. I scolded myself for being so easily swayed by him. When I glanced at his sleeping form, I cautiously tried to shift, afraid of disturbing his slumber.
Suppressing my breathing, I couldn't help but be hyper-aware of his presence. I convinced myself that any attempt to sneak away would only result in sleep eluding me as well. Going home would have been the sensible choice, but where was the sense of accomplishment in that? So, despite the discomfort, I chose to stay.
