I sighed and stood up as the bus rolled into the station. I was finally here. I could’ve arrived hours ago, but at least I still had my ribs unbroken. I waited for the passengers in front of me to alight before getting off and walking toward the exit without looking behind me.

I had spent the last few hours reminding myself to stop looking over my shoulder. If I were being followed, there wasn’t much I could do about it until an actual ambush occurred.

I walked out of the station and hailed a cab. I gave the driver my destination, and we set off on the trip....
