Tara was about to become Luna in front of the whole damn werewolf world.

She walked slowly and deliberately, her white silk gown trailing behind her. The dress hugged her body to the hips and then flowed loose over her rounded belly. The diamond necklace glittered at her throat, and the earrings sparkled in her ears.

When she reached me, the elder began the rite, and I barely heard the words. I didn’t know if it was the same for others.

All I could hear was the text notification that had buzzed against my thigh five minutes earlier.
