"What in the world are you up to these days? Isn't it possible for you to service our consumers quicker? You are causing a substantial time delay!" I overheard a discussion between the owner of a restaurant that was in the process of being renovated and his servant, who I assume was a waiter or bartender.

That servant was being beaten by the business owner, and the customers in the vicinity helped them in bringing the ruckus to an end by blocking the space between the two of them and grasping the arms of the little businessman in dispute.

Ah, what a tangled web they have created here!...
