I should have seen it coming from the very beginning—it was yet another trap laid by the Alpha Devils. I should have known that their icy behavior towards me meant something deadly. 

They had surely deciphered that I had spoken to Landon, and he was the one who made me plead on Nerissa’s behalf and here I was left to suffer the consequences of my actions.
