“Why are you back so early?” Lord Kieran asked with a smirk.
“Leave,” Alpha Alaric replied coldly.
“Ok fine I will,” he patted on my back gently.
The silence after Kieran left was heavier than before. It pressed against my chest, making it hard to breathe. I could still hear Alpha Alaric’s boots on the stone path, even though it was long gone. That sound alone was enough to make my skin prickle.
I sat there, trembling, clutching the wet rag in my hand. My knuckles were raw. I wanted to scream, but all that came out was a choked breath. Lord Kieran shouldn’t have come. He didn’t understand...
