DESDEMONA.
I tossed and turned on the bed, the candle still flickering weakly beside me.
Something felt wrong. The air was too heavy, too still, as if someone else was in the room.
I turned to the other side of the bed.
Daine was gone.
A sigh escaped my lips. Maybe she went to Celeste. I leaned over and blew out the candle, lying back on the bed, trying to calm my racing heart.
But then a spark.
The light flickered on again by itself.
I froze. My breath caught in my throat.
There was a sound, a faint rustle, from behind the curtain.
Slowly, I pushed the blanket aside...
