I came back to the party with a heavy yet saddened heart, Anyone could tell that by just looking at my face, I wanted nothing more but to have an opportunity again to speak with Elijah, I should at least get some suitors before heading back home with my mom.

I saw Mona at the side of her dad, she was busy talking to him when I passed by, I was looking, when Elijah and I bumped Into each other, almost at the center of the hall.

"Ivanna, please be careful,".

He says holding my hands and almost me with his soft palm.

That I almost fell unconscious, melting in his arms.

"I'm sorry, it's my fault,".

I bowed my head, it was a sign of respect, because we the Werewolfs aren't any match with the Alphas, especially if the female is on the hunt for the perfect mate, How lovely would it be if my mate, turned out to be Elijah?

I'd not only be the envy of another female wolf but my mom would also be proud of me.

Ever since, before Dad's death, she had one and only one dream, apart from schooling, it was to marry a handsome, Rich, and Caring alpha, who would take good care of me.

Elijah left after being called by his mom.

All Alphas and their families have a separate corner they stay at and watch over us, wolves as we enjoy the ball.

The Werewolf ball is supposed to be a time when everyone would come together, and get to know themselves, settle differences, and above all, find their mate.

The ball was the first time, my parents both saw each other and got married.

I sat at a corner and enjoyed viewing the party, the people who were dancing had their partners, whereas the others who could find a way to sneak, must have gone away, to do whatever things that are being done in the dark.

I was seated on my chair, and Elijah walked out from the place his parents were, sitting comfortably, I saw him moving past a lot of people and verging ahead.

I had no idea, he was coming to meet me, when he brought out his hand and asked me to dance with him.

My face was filled with joy and happiness, and as I held Elijah's hand, and we both came to the dance floor, a lot of the girls who also eyed him, had murderous glances on their faces.

Slowly Elijah held my waist and pulled me forward, he grabbed my hand with his other hand and, lastly looked straight into my eyes.

"Do you trust me,?"

He asked.

"Yes!," I didn't think twice, I shook my head, giving him the response he wanted to hear from me.

I danced with Elijah and within, my heart was singing with Joy, finally, I had the chance to woo him and make him my mate, sometimes mates are chosen by the moon goodness, but in most cases, mates are agreed upon by the parents, and there is nothing we can do about it when the declaration is being made.

After I danced with Elijah, he left, but before going he placed a warm kiss on my cheeks, It was like the cherry on top, again, I have no idea what might have happened to make Elijah approach me amidst the party, but I liked it.

His doing that, would make others get the hint, that Elijah might be interested in knowing me.

The party ended, and Mom and I went back home, I walked to my bedroom to rest, and even when Mom tried to ask me if I would want to have a glass of milk before sleeping, the thought of Elijah made her voice mute, I heard nothing as I approached my bedroom.

I got inside and was going to the bathroom to change when I got a call from Mona on the phone.

I knew why she was calling, and it had everything to do with Elijah.

"Mona, baby!"

I fell on my bed, and I chanted her name.

"Ivanna, you seem happy,?"

She spoke back to me and was laughing on the phone.

"Yes of course, Did you not see, Elijah asked me to dance with him,?".

I screeched out of excitement and fell on the bed again.

Hearing that, Mona giggled at me.

"Wow! You're happy, What if Elijah becomes your mate, You wouldn't even mind jumping off the cliff,".

She made fun of me, and it was even at the expense of my life.

How dare she say that about me? Although I find Elijah handsome and dreamy, I cannot be too stupid to jump off the cliff when he asks me to become his girlfriend, or I'm I?..

Mona and I talked about boys for a while before the call disconnected.

I was finally ready to go into the bathroom and change out of my dress.

Thereafter, I returned to the room, went to my bed, and fell on it, like a log.

Tonight has been nothing but exhausting.

And tomorrow would be good, I think?

The moon came down and the sun came up.

I was down to start preparing breakfast, for Mom, when she came out and was under the impression that, she was beginning to get fat and wouldn't be able to get anything, only after exercising.

And she left to go for a morning Jog

My mom is more than thirty, yet she still hopes that while Jogging, she's getting younger.

Since my mom wasn't going to have anything to eat, I prepared food for only myself and then rushed to my cleaning job.

I work as a cleaner at the mansion of alpha Nathan, and a few others, who are also humans.. most of the humans have guns and silverware all over their house, and it's best not to come in contact and just work your way through and leave.

The less mess I create, the less attention I can draw to myself, which can prove nothing but fatal to my life and that of my mom.

And not to forget, all the sacrifices of Alpha, Nathan, in keeping us safe, will be put into jeopardy, if any human finds out that Werewolves are still living in their midst.

All hell will break loose, and I don't want that.
