Chapter 3

Chapter 3

I checked Owen's location, and it was at the city's most luxurious club.

I had heard that a single visit there cost at least $300,000.

$300,000 could cover a down payment on a house in this city.

"Wow, he's really got the cash!" I said with a bitter laugh.

After a few seconds of contemplation, I decided to confront Owen.

Unfortunately, I didn't even get past the club's entrance.

It was members-only, and only members were allowed inside.

Seeing the disdain in the security guard's eyes, I quietly withdrew my foot from the threshold.

Instead of heading home, I waited nearby.

As time passed and the cold wind made me shiver, Owen finally emerged.

The girl named Hannah was gone, and he was accompanied by several young men dressed in what looked like very expensive clothes.

"Owen, are you heading back to that rental apartment tonight?" one of the men teased.

"Yeah, I have to," Owen replied casually.

"Oh, no, Owen, are you still playing this game after two years?" a younger man asked, surprised.

"Yeah, Owen, are you actually falling for that country girl named Charlotte?" another man chimed in.

Owen shot a disdainful glance at the man who had spoken and said, "No way!"

"I just want to see how far that idiot can let her romance cloud her judgment!"

Hearing this, the group burst into laughter.

I laughed as well, standing not far away.

So, in Owen's eyes, I was just a love-struck fool!

A pang of pain spread through me, reaching every corner of my body.

I felt like I was drowning, my breath becoming labored.

Owen's words were indeed... accurate!

If I weren't so infatuated, would I have quarreled with my family over marrying him? Would I have been deceived so completely, like a naive fool?

At this moment, my heart felt utterly dead!

After a brief moment of suffocation, I decided to discard Owen just like I had discarded those two bread rolls.

After all, spoiled food and deceitful emotions were both worthless.

I walked toward Owen's location.

At that moment, one of the men was still teasing Owen.

"Owen, where did you find a woman who helps you pay off debt for free and even covers the costs?"

Owen responded with a dismissive smile,

"I didn't find her; she came to me willingly."

Then, as if a thought had occurred to him, Owen turned to the group with a serious expression and said,

"I warn you all, don't tell Hannah about my marriage to that foolish woman."

The men responded immediately,

"Understood, Owen!"

"Don't worry, everyone knows Hannah is your first love; we won't say a word!"

"By the way, now that Hannah is back in the country, aren't you two thinking of reconciling?"

Owen's response was cut off abruptly as he saw me, a flash of guilt crossing his face.

"You... what are you doing here?"

"Are you surprised to see me?" I paused and deliberately elongated my tone,

"Owen!"

Owen frowned, clearly displeased.

The others looked at me with ill intent, and some didn't bother to hide their scrutiny, examining me from head to toe.

The atmosphere grew incredibly tense.

After a few seconds of silence, Owen looked at me with utter disdain and said,

"Since you already know, this is pointless."

"So, what compensation do you want?"

I responded with a cold smile, slowly uttering four words:

"I want... a divorce!"

The surroundings fell into an eerie silence!
