Brody and Estella burst out laughing. They shook their heads while Vanny just grumbled in annoyance.

“You guys are so sneaky, Van. We weren't talking about you.”

It seemed pointless for Vanny to ask. They wouldn't tell her the truth, of course. So Vanny smiled briefly at Estella as she reached across the table and asked.

“By the way... Hasn't Tessa arrived yet?”

Vanny's question caused Estella and Brody to look around the room. Surprisingly, the person they were discussing appeared in the doorway.

“There she is,” Brody said. “Tessa just arrived.”

Tessa arrived, alone and without Wynona. She seemed perfectly fine and smiled as Brody stood to greet her....
