Emily hurls her glass of wine to the wall in a fit of rage.

The dark stain spreading across the white paint only makes her angrier. For a moment, she considers throwing the bottle after it, but that would be a waste. As an intern, she doesn't earn enough to throw away half a bottle of wine.

She thinks back to the day she found the Council's letter in Kerris's room. She had wholeheartedly believed it was all over for the stepsis. Apparently, not even a prostitūtion scandal can bring Kerris Hart down for good.
