Mary Dawson's email arrived the same day of the interview.

She offered me the role, and I turned it down. It's the smart thing to do because Zach will surely find out my secret if I start spending a good deal of the day with him.

Mary had called to confirm if the reply I sent her was a mistake. She'd gone from shock to pure irritation when I told her I couldn't take the job.

I don't blame her. No one in their right mind would turn down such a massive opportunity.
