The only difference between the Alpha King's mating ceremony and all the others I've attended is the fact that I'm the center of attention. And the entire kingdom seem to be here in the castle tonight.

It's hard to believe I'm part of the reason for this crowd and celebration. When I glance Dad's way, he's surrounded by well-wishers, and I can tell he feels the same disbelief.

The reading of our vows, the rites and all the prayers are the same as every mating ceremony I've ever witnessed. Yet tonight, it feels like I'm hearing the words for the very first time.
