Enera does not waste time.

She leads me out into a less crowded terrace, the city buzzing beneath us as if it’s trying not to listen. The bass from inside is muffled here, far enough away we can think.

She turns to me, arms crossed, eyes steady and expression smooth.

“What do you want, Michael?”

Right to the point.

I breathe out slowly. “You’re surprised I came to you.”

She raises an eyebrow. “I am. You dodged all the people who mattered to me for all those years. You married someone else. You disappeared. And now you want to see me.”
