The Next Day

I opened the cell door and saw her lying on the cold floor, barely moving, as if lifeless.

Pity almost crept into my heart, but the memory of her with another man reignited my anger. I stepped closer and kicked her in the stomach. She jolted awake with a pained gasp.

"Aah!" she whimpered, glaring at me as the guards untied her.

"Get up, lazy woman," I ordered. "Go prepare breakfast for my fiancée. She's arriving soon, so don't waste time."

Without another word, I turned and left.
