The days after Alfredo's unexpected visit were quiet. Almost too quiet. It felt like the calm before a storm, and every time I thought about it, I got really nervous but I tried my best not to show it.

Alfredo’s presence had done more than just stir up old memories for Bella, it left me feeling like something bad was gonna happen anytime. Matteo and Austin were on edge, and Bella seemed distant sometimes even if she tried to feign being okay, her eyes constantly wandering as if she was somewhere far away.
