“How—how do you know?” I asked, my voice shaking a little, but she didn’t even let me finish.

“Riley, listen to me,” Anna rushed out, her voice coming out fast and uneven like she was trying not to panic. “I’m in this place called Obsidian Veil. I don’t even know how I got here. One minute I was driving, and the next… I was just here. I swear I didn’t even see when the road changed.”

I froze.

“What do you mean you’re just there?” I snapped, already feeling my head start to pound.

“I was looking for you,” she continued like she didn’t even hear my tone....
