Everything that is happening right now feels crazy and ridiculous, yet I cannot stop the way my heartbeat skips at her words.
“What’s your name?” I ask, my voice quieter than I want it to be.
She smiles, small and knowing. “I’m Summer.”
“Summer?” I repeat, testing the name.
“Yes.”
“Well, Summer,” I say, trying to sound firm, “I’m going to disappoint you, but I won’t be going anywhere with a total stranger.”
