Riley's POV

“Do you think Obsidian Veil is the same as Crescent Hollow where you came from?” Calistus says, his voice low and sharp.

I lift my eyes to him, and that is when I see it.

His eyes are no longer normal. They glow. They burn in a molten yellow color that makes my stomach twist and my skin prickle. The room feels tighter suddenly.

Fear rushes through me fast but I clamp it down. I refuse to give him the satisfaction of seeing it on my face. I keep my chin up, even though my heart is beating so loudly I swear everyone can hear it.
