Riley's POV 

The loud bang against the door snapped through the room so hard that my entire body jerked.

I scrambled off the floor immediately, heart racing, fingers shaking as I reached for my clothes scattered across the ground. Adrenaline crashed over the haze still clouding my mind from everything that had just happened.

Another heavy hit landed against the door.

Boom.

"Someone's there," I said sharply.

Before I could move any farther, Gunnar caught my wrist.

"Wait."

His voice had changed instantly. The softness from moments ago was gone. His entire body had gone tense beside me, eyes sharp and alert again.
