Duncan hadn't left yet and was standing outside the leader's office; he had no plan to listen to the conversation between the leader and Lady Kennedy, but something changed his mind.
"There's no way! I will love someone... He was the only man I wanted to be my mate's father. "
Who wants to be her mate? Is he the man the lady was referring to?
When the door opens, Duncan hides himself in the corner. He noticed the lady coming out. He tried not to make a sound as he began to follow the lady.
Duncan didn't understand himself, but it had become a habit for him to follow the lady and make sure that she was safe.
Since what happened ten years ago, even the leader hasn't asked him. It was as if his body was reacting instinctively to the possibility that something bad might happen to the lady if he wasn't around.
Perhaps he reminded Lady Kennedy of Elise, who needed someone to look after them.
While the young lady was wandering outside the castle, he motioned the guards he saw above the tree to come down for a moment; there he was also seen hiding in the corner. Those two are guards assigned to keep an eye on the lady by day, and there were also two from the night.
Both are removed the cover from their face and lowered their head at him.
From his pocket, he grabbed two small pouches containing several pieces of gold. He threw it to the guards.
The leader wouldn't be pleased if he knew he was approaching his daughter. He already gave a warning last time.
"Leave." After that, the guards immediately left, carrying the piece of gold that he had given and the promise that they would keep this secret from the leader.
Duncan's gaze was drawn to the young lady.
He saw her enter the maze garden. Duncan was curious as to where the lady was going.
At the end of the maze, there's a huge greenhouse that the pack leader built after the lady almost drowned herself in the ponds when she was young.
Who would have thought that the greenhouse was actually a pond before?
Ten years ago, the pack's Luna purposefully pushed her child into the lake.
Who will believe the stories about Luna attempting to murder her own child?
That time, Duncan was only an unwelcome guest of the pack. No one knows that a "Rogue" like him has entered the Silver Cross pack; they are known as "wondering wolves" and have no place to call home. They are often associated with a series of kidnappings and forcing their female to submit to them. Some of the Omega that trades on the black market is the work of the Rogue.
Rogue is known for being aggressive. The majority of the rogues are alphas who turn violent because they have lost their mate in the war or have broken their bond. They can not cope with the grief or pain. Some get kicked in the pack, and some lose their families.
There was a reason why Duncan went with the Silver Cross pack... he wanted to see and talk with Hendrick Arandelle, the Alpha pack leader.
But Duncan finds it difficult to talk to the leader of the pack. They were always busy inspecting the area and were not always around in the pack. He, who had no plans to save the young lady from drowning, would be a way to talk to the Alpha leader.
The young lady whom he saves becomes fond of him afterward. She always calls him to play with her, something he can't say "no." However, as the leader's order was given to him, he began to avoid the lady.
"Wahhhhh!...."
Duncan became alarmed as he heard a loud noise coming from the lady.
She was yelling at the top of her lungs that Duncan had no choice but to appear in front of the lady.
******
"Alright! Breath deeply... Kennedy. Don't freak out! The more you keep yelling, the more you will attract the snake. " She said to herself while acting bravely in front of a poisonous snake.
She was afraid of snakes and never saw one. She was already going to faint if this did not leave her.
She knows her wolf can kill the snake in a snap. But she doesn't want to defend her wolf every time she needs to, even for small things. And this was not the right time to shift into a wolf. Though she didn't know when she would be transformed, only her wolf could tell...
But, for the time being, her wolf appears to be unconcerned about whether she will be hurt or not. How dare she? She was even cheering on her to kill the snake.
"Shut up!" She told her wolf, "You are not helping."
It was daytime. But how come no one hears her? Even birds were disturbed by the scream coming from her when she shouted.
Kennedy swallowed hard.
She looks around, but she doesn't see anyone coming here.
She wanted to faint when the snake continued staring at her and slowly crawled into her. She just closed her eyes and wished that the snake in front of her would disappear instantly.
Seconds had passed... but Kennedy was still keeping her eyes closed. She heard a noise.
Who was it?
When she opened her eyes, the face of the person she didn't expect to see was in front of her.
"Are you alright, my lady?"
"..."
She didn't take her gaze away from him, as if he'd vanish the moment she blinks, and a snake would take his handsome face's place.
"Huh?" She was still stunned by the person in front of her.
"It's fine if you don't want to answer." Kennedy didn't seem to hear much of what he said. But she moved her head and noticed the man's cheek.
She didn't bother to look at the body of the snake that was splattered on the floor. She noticed that the snake's body was still moving.
Taking a deep breath, Kennedy spoke.
"You have blood on your face. Are you hurt? "
"No. I'm fine, young lady. "I suppose I should ask you the same question." He tilted his head and extended his hand.
Her heart was beating fast, but she managed to place her hand on him. Holding the crumpled handkerchief She moved closer to him, and she noticed the surprised expression on his face. She carefully wiped the blood from his cheeks.
"Now it's gone." It was like Kennedy was only talking to herself. She was just trying to not tremble in front of him.
This is the second time Alpha Duncan has saved her. How can you not want this man as a mate?
Next time, when she has the chance, she'll talk to his father and convince him to consider Alpha Duncan as her mate. She wouldn't really care whether he was her fated mate or not.
She wants Alpha Duncan only for her.
Kennedy didn't realize that this man was holding her hands while they were leaving the greenhouse.
"My Lady!" Her nanny saw her with Alpha Duncan. Her eyes widened with shock when she looked up at her clothes.
Her maids rushed towards her after they saw her dress had a stain of blood. She saw how worried her maid and her nanny were about her.
"What happened to you my lady? Does anything hurt? Why is there blood on your dress? "
"My lady!" She was startled, and her ears were hurt from their simultaneous voices.
"I'll tell you everything in my room, nanny," she said.
Her eyes turned to Alpha Duncan.
"Again, thank you for saving me—" When Kennedy suddenly remembered something, ah right, the cookies she had made for him, she hadn't given them to him yet. She hurriedly ran to her room, and from the table, she saw a pouch containing cookies she had made. She didn't notice when the maid followed her to her room. "Where are you going, my lady?"
Dungan was still there when she almost caught her breath, just to catch up with Duncan.
"Please... t-accept it!I-I made this for you..." She was not looking at him while giving the cookies. She remained, her head bent and her face looking at the ground.
She noticed the gasps coming from her maids and her nanny.
Kennedy knew that this would spread in the castle, and even reach his father, and that she gave Duncan the cookies she made.
