I sat rigidly in the back of the armored SUV. The heavy emerald green silk of my dress pooled around my legs.

My mind was spinning violently. If Adrian knew Noah was the Boss of Velgrave, he wouldn't just sit back. He would come here. Tonight.

Noah lounged next to me. He looked completely relaxed in his tailored black suit, his long legs stretched out.

"Stop thinking about him," Noah ordered suddenly, putting his phone away.

I blinked. "What?"

"Jake." Noah's jaw tightened. "You are sitting next to me. Do not waste your time worrying about your pathetic ex."

"I'm not," I argued quickly. "I'm worried about tonight....
