Hearing his verdict immediately drained the colour from their faces. 

To say that didn't give me a sense of satisfaction would be a lie. They totally deserve it. If not, more.

It didn't take long before pleas tumbled from their lips in a chorus of desperation. 

They stepped closer to Caleb and tried to hold his hand, but he moved away from them.

Looking at him with glistening eyes, they rubbed their hands together in begging. "Please! Please, sir! Have some mercy on us, we didn't mean—"
