Senna’s words hit me hard. She sat on the sand and drew her knees into her chest. Tears fell from her eyes. She was inconsolable.

I’d shifted back as soon as the wave took the wolf. But now Orrin howled inside of me.

“I want to go too,” he said. “Let me go too.”

He wanted to join Verity in the ocean. Knowing that Verity was dead, he didn’t want to live now either. But I couldn’t let him do that. He would take me down with him. There was no way for me to let Orrin go without killing myself too.
