Lauren pulled away from me the moment we boarded the boat. She didn’t say a word, just wrapped her arms around herself and found a seat near the edge. Her gaze fixed on the dark waters, avoiding me entirely.
She was angry.
“You’re angry,” I said, keeping my voice low so the others wouldn’t hear.
“Well, congratulations for noticing that,” she shot back, her tone sharp, her eyes still refusing to meet mine.
