They stared at themselves as Adrian subtly pulled me away and introduced himself as my date, of course before seeing who I was even dancing with.

I could smell dislikeness and not just because he was about to kiss me (not that I would've allowed him) but because it seemed like they probably knew each other before.

“Wow. You're studying here?”

Adrian asked, genuinely surprised but it still came out awkwardly.

“Yes, since last year. I'm a sophomore. I came back.”
