Chapter 6- Drunk With Euphoria
He gestured to me with his hand to call him later and shouted, "There is something for you in your satchel."
He stood outside the gate, watching me. It felt like the whole world had stopped except for my heart which squeaked with an uncanny sense of joy.
"What is it?" I asked, fighting with my happy cells to spread my lips.
"You will know it when you see it," he said and waved at me smiling before he walked away.
Lost in my infinite happiness, I stood still wondering what it could be.
As soon as he disappeared from my sight, I unzipped my satchel in utmost exhilaration but was disturbed by the ringing of my phone.
"Amelia, can you email me the geography notes? I mistakenly deleted it and now I cannot restore it," Ella said over the phone.
"Oh, sure."
"Can you do it right now? I want to complete my homework," she said.
Entering the house, I emailed the notes to her still smiling which made my parents stare at me in curiosity.
"My daughter looks pretty happy today," Dad said smiling.
With a huge smile stretched on my lips which I couldn't conceal, I looked at them who were seated on the sofa watching TV.
"Tell us what happened that's making you smile like a Cheshire cat," Mom beamed with undisguised curiosity.
My mom was my best friend after Ella. Our relationship was like that of two best friends who would share every little thing and never leave each other's side.
Lately, she has been excited to know if I was dating anyone but until now she had been kinda upset that her daughter might be a boring girl who just thought about studying. It wasn't that she was encouraging me to fall in love at this age but she wanted me to learn about the outside world and enjoy the little things in life.
Regardless of her curiosity, I didn't want to share about Andy with my Mom at that very moment when I had just started to choose the colours for the art of my love life.
"I had a good day in school."
"But your smile says a different thing," Mom teased.
"What does my smile say?" I asked her, biting my lips to stop smiling.
"I want to hear it from you," she said playfully.
"I don't know what you are thinking but it sounds senseless to me. I am going to my room," I said, wearing a mask of seriousness.
"You are hiding something from me. I am your mom," she said playfully.
"Mom!" I exclaimed but I could not hide my smile.
"Okay fine. I won't say anything."
She backed up but I knew she was trying to hold herself from yukking and teasing me like always.
"You must be hungry. Let's have tea and snacks together, " Dad said.
"Mom and you can have it. I am not hungry but a little tired. I want to refresh and take some rest before I do my homework " I told him with a sigh like I really was tired while the thing was I was dying of curiosity to see what Andy had kept in my bag.
"Okay. Take some rest. I will get you a hot chocolate after a few minutes," Dad said.
"I will come down if I want," I replied and climbed up the stairs leading to my room.
Well, my Dad still treated me like I was a kid and had the habit of unnecessarily worrying about little things. Although he was a little stricter than my Mom, both of them were the best parents one could have.
As soon as I got into my room, I locked the door and flipped open the book to smile with my heart throbbing frantically in my chest.
"17754329...call me baby...I LOVE YOU"
It was neatly written with a pencil on the first page. Floating on cloud nine, I gently brushed my palm on it before I hugged the book and beamed,
"I love you too, I love you too, I love you too.."
I hugged the book tight like it was Andy and squealed with delight.
I looked at the number and his short message and kissed it constantly leaving marks of pink lipstick on it.
"God! I love you so much," I said, picturing Andy's handsome face on the book.
Drunk with euphoria, I opened my satchel to see what another thing of him was waiting for me to embrace with warmth.
I froze for a while because I wasn't expecting him to be so sweet and heart-touching. I slowly threw my hand in the bag and grabbed a red rose, a tiny scroll tied with a tiny red ribbon.
I looked at it smiling with my heart beating faster than ever and desperately longing to hug Andy, thanking him for adding more colours to my life.
Of course, I had a happy life with my parents who had a good house, good cars, and who loved each other like they were newly married couples though it had been twenty years since their marriage.
And being the only child, they gave me more attention and showered me with love and warmth that never made me feel lonely but the feeling of falling in love was totally different. It felt like seventh heaven and he dwelled in my mind, making me smile all the time.
I slowly unfasten the ribbon off the tiny scroll of blue paper and read, "Hey beautiful, whenever I look at you, I feel that I have found my world. I love you so much."
I looked at the scroll for a while; squealed and jumped with happiness and joy.
"I love you... I love you….I love you…" I squeaked with delight, kissing the scroll constantly.
Suddenly, my eyes were caught by the figure that I could directly see from my huge window.
Shit! Shit! Shit!
Why didn't I realize that my window curtains were open and that pervert could directly see me from his balcony?
I breathed hard, squeezing my eyes closed before I walked towards the window and pulled the curtain down, seething with rage and resentment while he smiled watching me.
Damn! That weirdo Noah might have thought that I had gone crazy and how dare he giggle at me like I was a clown in a circus but the truth was everyone would have thought the same because I really did like crazy, kissing a book and a tiny paper, jumping and squealing. However, he was not allowed to giggle at me peeping through his balcony like a pervert who was waiting for me to undress.
I sat on my bed cursing him viciously for being my neighbour and that too should be straight to my room. Even though he wasn't my classmate anymore, I could see his filthy face all the time; how dare he stare at me like a pervert who had never seen a girl.
And yeah, I was too beautiful for him to be my match.
Oops! It was just my perception.
I rolled my eyes, shaking Noah off my thoughts, and saved Andy's number on my phone. I swallowed a lump in my throat and licked my lips while I dialed his number because he got me nervous, happy, excited, frightened, and everything that a human could feel.
