Wendy's POV
The room's happy chatter and laughter stopped as two soldiers came in, their uniforms perfect but their faces serious. Their boots tapped against the marble floor, a big difference from the gentle music of the strings playing in the corner.
My eyes naturally went to them as they walked right up to George. He was standing near the main table, his big shoulders stiff, talking to a group of friends. The soldiers bent in, said something to him, and I saw the quick flash of anger on his face.
