Rose Greyson

I couldn't help but shift back by his intimidating form towering over my petite one. "Who is yours? Last time I checked I didn't approve to be your mate or anybody else's," I said boldly even though deep down my chest was escalating inside its ribcage.

The corner of his lips twitch up. I nearly glared at him. "What!" I exclaimed. He took another step almost closing off the few inches that were left between us. This time around I didn't initiate to shift back from where I was standing.

"Maybe you don't know much about werewolves and the consequences that are involved when you reject your mate. I should b-" I immediately cut him off.

"Says who? I read a lot of werewolf stories. I know what they are like. And I know what mate means. Alpha, Beta, Lycan..."

"Then do you know that mates are bound together forever? And can read each other's heart beating? Can hear each other's thoughts and feel the pain when their mate is in pain." He explains with a strong aura lurking in his voice.

Okay, I have forgotten about the mating stuff. My eyes went wide as I pointed a finger at him. He chuckles in return holding my raised finger mid-air.

"Fiesty. I like that." He said. My eyes traveled to my finger that he was holding back to him. Getting angry all of a sudden.

How dare him!

"You can get angry later but for now you need to go with me."

"Go with you? To where?"

"Where you're destined to be." As the words left his lips, it made me burst out with laughter.

"Do you know that you look funny right now? Maybe you should check yourself in the mirror." His brows furrowed together and he released his hold from my fingers. Stepping back a little.

"You think I'm making a funny joke right? You have to follow me whether you like it or not." Something was strong in the way he said it. His eyes grew wide.

He can't possibly expect me to take in everything. Mate? To hell with that.

I took in a sharp breath and stared at him intently. "I suggest Mr Hunter, you should go back home. My mother will be back any moment. I don't want her involved in any of this." I explained sparing the wall clock a glance. Mom should be on her way back home.

"Miss Rose, maybe you don't k-"

"I know and understand all that you've said. I'm your mate and you're here to claim me. But..." I trailed off marching forward all of a sudden feeling adrenaline rushing in my veins.

"I'm not some sort of possession to be claimed. And from the stories I read, A mate can be rejected by her Alpha." I took one step again leaving a mere inches between us.

"So, I'm doing it the other way round. I, Rose Greyson McCarthy reject her mate Mr. Hunter." Something flashed in his eyes as the words left my lips.

His eyes were fixated on mine as he clenched and unclenched his jaw. "You should know consequences are involved when a mate rejects you. And you were chosen by the moon goddess."

"But you were not the one that rejected me. I reject you instead," I profound shrugging my shoulder.

"I don't know whether you know about the stuff from the stories you've read," He said. Something was burning in his eyes. For some reason, I felt my heart sank when he made that gesture. Yet, I ain't ready to back out.

"Consequence or no consequence, I don't care. Lock the door on your way out." I didn't wait for his reply and I walked past him making my way inside. As I closed the door behind me, I rested my back on the door placing my palms on my beating heart.

Rose, what have you done? I whispered.

Will he let me be since I've rejected him? Or will something happen to me like in the books?

"Good morning Rose." I was greeted with a toothy smile from Nora as she took her seat beside me chewing on her bubble gum as usual.

"Morning Nora." I couldn't help but sigh at the end.

She squinted her eyes on me. "What was that for?" She asked. The class is beginning to get filled up with students as it is almost time for the first class.

"I was on my way to class when I heard some girls talking about the student week. And-"

She was quick in cutting me off. "Is that why you're sighing? Never participated in any before?"

"No."

"Then brace yourself. This will be one of the most memorable week of your life. This college student week is unique. Unlike other universities or colleges."

"Really?"

"Oh yes. So chill. Don't stress yourself too much. And there won't be classes. The bulletin should be out by today or tomorrow."

Wow.

I really can't wait to see how the student week will roll out. I'm still not used to the school that much. It's been only a week already.

The professor came in three minutes after our discussion and silence was maintained. The class ended and we headed out for lunch outside the school. A new restaurant was opened a few blocks from the school. And Nora was hell-bent we go try it out.

"Hey Nora ditching school?" One of the class girls said to Nora. And Nora rolled her eyes in return. "That's none of your business. Back off." Her voice was in a high pitch and the girl raised her hands in surrender.

"You're a feisty one." I teased massaging her shoulder as we proceeded on our way out. We bumped into Mrs. Elizabeth on our way and I immediately remembered our discussion the other day.

I was supposed to send an apology to Mr. Hunter. However, I did more than apologize. "Rose Greyson." She called my name. And the tone she used tells me something went wrong.
