I already knew Valerie had cast a spell on Killian… but I just wanted to hear him say it. And he did.

The moment the words left his lips, something inside me melted. I couldn’t help the quiet rush of excitement that filled me.

Then I felt his arms moving to hug me, then tightening around me, pulling me closer until there was no space left between us.

It was only then that I realized… I had been the one to hug him first. When did I become so soft?

We stayed like that for a while, neither of us speaking, just breathing in sync. My ear rested...
