My eyes fluttered open to the sound of crickets and birds chirping softly outside. The sky through the window was still dim, painted in that greyish-blue color just before sunrise.
I muffled a yawn, shifting a little, but then paused when I felt something warm and soft wrapped around my waist.
That was when I looked beside me and saw Selene.
Her arm was draped across my torso like she’d done it all her life. She was still asleep, her mouth slightly open, breathing evenly. A strand of her silver hair was curled around her face and stuck to her
cheek.
She looked so peaceful.
