Selene's POV.

By the time we reached the infirmary, it felt like my body had been strung together by threads. Each step sent pain shooting through my limbs.

My shoulders throbbed like they were moments away from dislocating. My wrists felt raw and torn.

My lips… gosh, I could barely part them. That stupid gag had dug so deep it felt like the skin had split. I could taste the bitter sting of dried blood.

Carmen held onto me like I might fall apart at any second.

"Don't worry," she whispered, "We're almost there. The pack doctor will fix you up, okay? Just hold on."

It felt like hours, though...
