I was seated in front of Alex in a tea shop, my hands crossed as we both stared at nothing in particular, none of us saying a word. I finally decided to break the silence, mostly because I wanted to get home in time and sleep early.
“Does your arm still hurt?”
“No, it doesn't,” he replied, taking me by surprise because I had expected a curt reply or even to be ignored.
"Okay,” I nodded because I didn't know what else to say about it.
“Why'd you call me out?“ I finally asked.
“Did you get the Friday leave email I asked Allison to send you?“
