Third Person POV
Saying goodbye to Madam A, Brielle walked away from the elevator and sighed as she checked the time. It was close to 11 and she was exhausted. Walking over to the living room, she could see Delilah laying on the couch passed out next to her dessert. Picking the little girl up, she went up to her bedroom.
She didn't mean to let the dinner go on for so long but they all lost track of time as they spoke and ate. She tried to stay calm for the dinner but Killian didn't stop teasing her, making her feel hot and bothered the entire dinner. He also didn't make it discreet that he was doing so either.
After she finished getting Delilah ready for bed, Brielle tucked her in and walked out of the room as she closed the light and pulled the door slightly. She went downstairs and sighed as she saw Benjamin had cleaned up almost everything.
" I thought I told you I was going to help clean up. " Benjamin turned to her and tilted his head.
" With all do respect Ms. Newman, I've been instructed by sir to not allow you to clean up anything since the first day you got here. By you simply washing dishes, I could potentially get a downsize in my payment "
" How much do you get each month? " She asked him and he sighed as he stood up straight.
" $75 grand " Brielle's eyes went wide.
" Well I don't really think it'd be a big problem if it gets reduced. I'm sure even by 10%, you'd still be managing just fine. His face turned.
" Managing? Darling, 75 grand is hardly enough. I couldn't bare it if another 10% was taken away. He's already cut it in half and says if I don't change my spending habits... " He shook his head as he continued.
" I don't even want to talk about it. " Brielle giggled at his idea of a struggle and said goodnight as she headed for the stairs. She turned around as she reached the bottom and spoke to him once again.
" Have you seen Killian? " She asked as she hadn't seen him or heard from him for a good thirty minutes.
" He may be in his office or up in the bedroom. " He responded and she thanked him as she walked up the stairs. Going into the bedroom she opened it slowly to see no sign of him anywhere. Assuming he was in his office, she went to her closet and pulled out her nightwear. Placing it on the bed, she pulled her dress over her head with sleepy eyes and put it in the hamper.
Only in her bra and underwear, she reached over to grabb her shirt when she suddenly felt someone push her down on to the bed. She screamed in the process and quickly turned on her back, while her hand moved to hide her chest. She sat up on her elbow to see Killian at the edge of the bed with his hands on the edge as he hovered over it. He gave a quick full head to toe glance of her body and groaned.
" God you're gorgeous. " Brielle blushed as she tried to ignore his gaze. She quickly reached for her shirt but he pulled it back.
" Stop Killian, this is embarrassing " She said softly and he payed no attention to her request as he asked her a question.
" Why have you been avoiding me lately? " She didn't say anything as she reached for her shirt again but he threw it on the other side of the bed out of her reach.
" Can we talk about this after I get a shirt on please? "
" Answer my question first. " She stared him in the eyes as her embarrassment didn't subside at all. He leaned closer to her face and she gulped softly. He opened his mouth to speak but stopped when she quickly turned and moved over to her shirt. Killian pulled her back by the ankles without much effort and turned her back to face him.
" Are you going to let me get dressed or not? "
" Have dinner with me tomorrow night... " He said as he held onto her ankles.
" Fine, I'll have dinner with you. Now can you please let me get dressed? " She asked and he let go of her ankles and turned around with a smirk coming to his face. He faced the other wall as Brielle quickly gathered her clothes and threw them on. She sat on the edge of the bed and watched him stand.
" You can turn around now. " She said and Killian turned around and placed his lips on her's in an instant. She responded by placing her hands in his hair and kissing him back sensually. He picked her up by the thighs and held her as she wrapped her arms around his neck. He pulled back and she laid her head on his shoulder.
" So you did all of that just for me to go to dinner with you? "
" Of course I didn't. I would've asked you to go regardless... I did what I did for the fun of it. "
" You're so mean to me " Brielle said and Killian chuckled as he laid her on the bed and hovered over her with her legs and arms still around him.
" Trust me Brielle.. me being mean to you is nothing compared to what my workers receive. If they saw the way I was treating you, they would think I was actually being nice. " She rolled her eyes at his words and he leaned in to claim her lips once again.
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
It was the night after Thanksgiving and Brielle was in her closet getting ready for her dinner with Killian. She didn't want to over do it so she just put on a grey off the shoulder dress and her white pumps. The dress ended right above her knee and had long sleeves. Leaving her hair down, she went over to the bathroom and put a bit of lipgloss on along with some mascara. Feeling satisfied, she walked out of the bathroom and grabbed her clutch.
Before walking out of the room, she looked around for a moment and tried to gain her thoughts back in order. It was hard to believe how much Killian changed her lifestyle. She wasn't sure she'd ever get used to it. Even standing next to a man like him who praised her for many reasons, she felt slightly self-conscious that she still wasn't good or pretty enough.
Walking out of the room, she made her way downstairs to see Killian on the phone by the elevator. He was in his black Armani suit and his hair was slicked back. He paced back and forth and she blocked out the what he was saying as it consisted mostly of swears. Walking over to him, he looked over to her and bit his lip, giving her a quick head to toe glance. He pulled her over to him when she was close enough and ended the phone call.
" Are you sure that phone call wasn't important? " Brielle asked and he rolled his eyes.
" I couldn't care less about my father's secretary. "
" Well what did he call about? "
" He was giving me a list of event I am to attend and you want to know what the fucker actually said to me? "
" What did he say Killian? " Brielle asked rubbing his shoulder which was calming him down.
" He told me I have a photoshoot scheduled in a week after my charity event in London.. Can you believe the audacity of my father? "
" Well what is the photoshoot for? "
" It's for the cover of my new magazine. " Brielle rolled her eyes as he was being utterly impossible as usual.
" Killian.. I want you to listen to me carefully. " He nodded his head and she continued.
" Do you think that the reason your father scheduled this for you is because 1) it is your new magazine, 2) it will give more publicity about you inheriting your father's business and possibly make other higher investors want to do business with you? " He didn't say anything. After a few seconds he responded.
" Well when you put it that way... it actually doesn't sound terrible... So why the hell didn't his secretary say that to me? "
" He probably was going to tell you that but you decided to cut him off and not even give him a chance to say anything.. " She answered and Killian didn't say anything again. Looking away from her, he glanced down at his watch.
" It's already 7, George should be outside. " Brielle giggled at him as he completely dismissed the previous conversation and pressed the elevator button. Stepping in, the doors closed and the elevator took them down to the lobby. When they opened again, the both of them stepped out and walked outside of the building.
George opened the door seeing them approaching and Brielle stepped in with Killian following behind. Once they pulled off, Brielle looked over to Killian.
" I'm going to take a wild guess and say we're off to another one of your expensive restaurants " Killian smirked as he grabbed her hand in his.
" Your wild guess is correct... I didn't have much time to plan for something more grand so it'll have to do for the night. "
" Killian. A $5,000 dinner is grand in my opinion. "
" Well, you and I both know that our idea's of grand are very much different " He retorted and she laid her head on his shoulder.
" What's your idea of a 'grand' dinner then? " She asked.
" Maybe something in France or Italy.. or in the middle of the ocean on my private yacht or plane. What about you? "
" I'd enjoy just sitting at home eating popcorn while watching a movie.. " She said laughing and Killian laughed along with her. They reached the restaurant after a good 15 minutes and they entered and were seated without delay.
Killian pulled out Brielle's chair and she sat down thanking him. Instead of being in a secluded area, they were now the center of attention, but as Brielle looked around discreetly to see if anyone was watching, she saw that no one even noticed them. In fact, they were all too busy with whatever they were occupied with and instead of being an outcast, she felt like she could easily pass as one of them. Killian took a seat across from her and noticed her looking around.
" We won't be noticed much here. These people have too much money to worry about the kind of woman I have by my side. Besides, they know me well enough to know I don't tolerate the staring at all. " Brielle nodded and looked back to him and he was already staring directly at her.
She gave him a smile " Killian, you don't think you decorated this place a little over the top? " She asked and he furrowed his eyebrows.
" I don't think so, why do you? " She tilted her head.
" I mean, look around and you tell me this wasn't costly. " He looked around the room briefly from the chandeliers to the engraved walls and floors.
He shrugged. " I still don't understand the problem.. " Brielle sighed in defeat and the waiter walked over to take their orders. When he walked away Killian leaned back in his seat and kept his eyes on Brielle.
" Why are you staring at me? " Brielle asked as his eyes stayed on her for a few minutes.
" I'm thinking of ways to bring up marriage once again without making you upset.
" Brielle felt her heart beat faster at his words but she ignored it.
" Killian, I thought we talked about this? "
" Briefly.. We talked about this situation briefly. You never gave me a direct answer.. "
" I would think you would come to your senses and realize that we've known each other for very little time. Why are you so keen on getting me to marry you? "
" Because I'm not going to be your 'boyfriend' and I know I've made it very clear that I want to be with you. "
" That doesn't mean me being your wife is the alternative. I don't know if you even- " She stopped speaking before she said something she didn't mean to. Killian took notice of how quickly she cut off her sentence and stopped speaking.
" What if I did ask you to marry me? " He asked.
" I don't know what I would say or do. You're the only man I've even had a date with or kissed. Am I only going to be with one guy my entire life? " Killian chuckled at her statement and poured himself a glass of wine.
" You must think I'm letting you go or allowing you to see other men that won't treat you how you deserve to be treated? That's funny. " Her eyebrows furrowed as she stared at him.
" You're telling me that I can't leave you and date anyone else if I wanted to. "
" Of course you can't. I don't want to say that I own you because that would be crude.. but saying I don't own you would be somewhat of a lie. " Brielle stared at him emotionless and the waiters brought over the food. She started eating, completely ignoring him and Killian didn't enjoy the awkward silence.
"You're ignoring me purposely right now. Stop doing it. " He said and she continued to ignore him. Killian scoffed at her and laughed as humorlessly as he could.
" God Brielle. You're really something aren't you. " He stared at her and she continued eating as if he wasn't there. He didn't touch his food as he continued staring her down.
" Are you going to say anything to me? " He asked her and she was still silent.
" Are you expecting some sort of apology? " He asked trying to get an answer but she just looked up at him and stared before going back to her food.
He didn't move his eyes off of her but he noticed something, rather someone, behind her head. He looked to the back wall of the restaurant, only to see someone in a hoodie looking at him directly. He went into the bathroom and Killian already knew who it was. He stood up and Brielle finally looked over to him with a different emotion.
" If you'll excuse me, I'll be right back " He said and walked away from Brielle not waiting for a response. Going to the bathroom, he opened the door and saw Eugene standing in the middle of the floor with his hoodie off.
" I thought I told you to inform me when you were going to come see me and to call in advance as well? " Killian seethed and Eugene shrugged.
" I guess I didn't get the memo. "
" How the hell did you get in here. " Killian said.
" Does it really matter? " Eugene asked and Killian crossed his arms.
" Yes it most certainly does. I have this place on maximum security and the fact that you just waltzed into the bathroom has me suspicious. "
" It doesn't matter how I got in, it matters why I'm here. "
" Eugene. As you can most likely tell, this is not a good time to talk. At all. Call me if you want to speak but right now I'm in the middle of something. " Eugene sighed as he nodded his head. Killian walked towards the door without a good-bye but Eugene spoke again.
" If you apologize like a normal person, I'm sure she'll stop ignoring you. "

Benjamin flashed another card for Delilah to read and she looked at it for a while trying to put the letters together. He would teach her something everyday to make sure she wasn't home doing nothing. She tilted her head as she was getting more confused by the minute.
" Spell it out for me. " Benjamin spoke and Delilah nodded.
" B-e-c-a-u-s-e "
" Correct. Now try to remember what it is. We went over it yesterday. " Nodding her head, Delilah stared at the word for a bit longer before speaking.
" Because? "
" That's right. " Benjamin smiled and she clapped her hands happily. Looking down to his watch he noticed it was time for dinner.
" We'll continue tomorrow. It's time for dinner. " Delilah nodded and grabbed his hand as he stood up. Walking over to the dining room he sat her in her chair and gave her the plate of macaroni, broccoli and chicken fingers with a cup of apple juice. After she finished eating Benjamin took her upstairs to get her ready for bed. After being bathed, dressed and fed, Delilah sat at her window seat and stared outside as Benjamin finished cleaning up. He went over to her and spoke.
" Are you ready for bed little one? " She shrugged.
" I'm not tired. "
" Well I think mummy and daddy will be pleased if you were in bed fast asleep. " She nodded her head but she didn't move. She wanted to tell Brielle that she wanted to call her mommy but every time she thought about it, it made her scared of the possible reaction. Benjamin kneeled beside her.
" Have you not told mummy how you feel yet? " Delilah shook her head as she forcefully held back the tears that wanted to come to her eyes.
" I'm s-still scared of w-what she will say " Benjamin grabbed her hand and held it in his own.
" Sweetheart, you have nothing to worry about. Mummy will be happy you got the courage to tell her. She will never be upset at you. " She looked over to him.
" Y-you promise r-right? " Benjamin nodded his head and Delilah let out a shaky breath and spoke again.
" Can I stay up a little late tonight? " Benjamin rose an eyebrow.
" Can I ask why? "
She sighed. " I.. I think I want to tell her "
