Zane's POV

The lights of my study flickered around me as I stood frozen in place. It felt as though the stone-cold wall pressed against my back, but nothing made me shiver more than Zara's words. 

A child.

Those two syllables hovered in my head like the aftershock of a bomb all through the ride from the hotel to my mansion. My heart beat faster as I tried to breathe and make sense of Zara's words. She was... pregnant? And I never knew?

The image of her angry face, the fury in her eyes, and the grief in her voice-it was all too real. Too raw to be a sham....
