I laughed, the weight of the past crashing into the present. “Wow, that was you?” 

“I had no idea you were the boy who saved me,” she said, a wide grin breaking out on her face.

I raised my shoulders in pride. “ Well, I guess I’ve always been saving your ass, huh?” I smiled so wide in a way I haven’t done in a while.

She smiled, blinking rapidly. “I can’t believe this.”
