The sterile scent of antiseptic and blood was suffocating, but I barely noticed it anymore. I paced the hospital corridor like a caged animal, my fists clenched and stained with blood that had dried to a rusty brown on my skin and shirt. It wasn’t just Lily’s blood. Some of it was mine. Most of it wasn’t.
But none of that mattered now.
Only one thought screamed through the storm in my mind: Is she alive? Are they both alive?
The door to the delivery room remained shut, taunting...
