Alex didn’t say a word when he dropped me off at the gate. Just the low grumble of the engine, a quick blink of the brake light then he was gone. The tires screeched like punctuation on the silence he left behind.
I stood there a moment too long, watching dust settle on the driveway like everything else in my life.
In my personal, medically unqualified opinion? He was bipolar. No actual diagnosis, of course. Just a few years of high school biology, countless mood swings, and a whole lot of emotional whiplash.
