Chapter 6

Chapter 6

ALARIC'S POV

"We've checked everywhere, your highness, but she's nowhere to be found," Josh said as he barged into my room, panting and trying to hold his breath.

On hearing his report, I felt a sharp, painful sting in my head that resulted in me holding my desk for support, but the force of my hands on the desk was too much as the thick wood broke in no time, and I angrily threw the whole desk to the window, breaking and shattering the thick glass.

My hands were bleeding but I couldn't care less as I reached for the wall, banging my head on it and throwing punches at it as I tried to feel a pain that would be greater than the one I was feeling in my heart but it didn't come close to it.

Things just haven't been the same for me during these past 3 days without Lenora. Her absence from my life has drained me into becoming a monster. There was nothing I hadn't done to bring her home to me, but it felt like I wasn't doing anything that was worth it.

I have searched all over the city, neighbouring cities, and every nation on earth, but there was no news about her. Due to the anger in me, I had called for the bastard Asher and her godforsaken mother and sister for questioning, but they seemed to be clueless, and it irritated me even more.

I knew that they couldn't be capable of Lenora's abduction, but they had once caused her pain, and I wasn't going to leave them to be happy. Seeing them lifeless might have helped me calm a little, but I was wrong.

Even after tying their arms and legs to four different horses that were to run in opposite directions and watching them wailing for help as their arms and legs were being stretched out of their bodies, I still wasn't satisfied, so I had commanded them to be taken back to the dungeon until some other time.

Her witch of a mother was unlucky and had died from her arms and legs being pulled out of her body, yet it gave me no satisfaction as Lenora hasn't been found.

I couldn't bring myself to be at peace after knowing that whoever must have taken her away from me had done that because of me. I had no idea of whether she was alive or not, as our connections were immediately lost the moment I felt a sharp sting in my chest.

Whosoever must have done this must have thought that he was really smart and must have planned it carefully, but I will find that person even if it means killing anyone who tries to stop me, and woe to me if that person doesn't die by my hand.

"Find Camila and bring her to me!" I roared at Josh as the whole room vibrated like an earthquake with items falling off the walls and the huge chandelier being quickly brought to the ground. Not only did my roar affect the room, but it had also affected Josh as he had hit his head against a sharp object by the door and was now bleeding. The old Alaric would be worried for him, but I wasn't that Alaric anymore. Without my precious Lenora, I was now a beast. A beast with just one goal and a beast that would risk everything to achieve that goal.

"Yes, your highness." He bowed before walking out of the room with his head bleeding and blood flowing into his mouth.

I had requested for Camila to be brought to me earlier on, but he claimed that she had run away to a far place and was nowhere to be found, but I knew she couldn't have gone that far as news had spread about her and she was now a wanted person across all nations.

I would have turned away from Camila because I had known her for a while and she wasn't able to do so, but I have seen when she let jealousy get the best of her and Lenora's case wouldn't have been any different. After all, how did Lenora suddenly vanish upon her arrival at the Serene Pack? She was one of those who knew of my tattoo that was engraved on the victim's forehead, but she wouldn't have been able to carry out the plan all by herself. She was definitely collaborating with someone who also had the same aim as her. The aim of bringing me down if she can't have me.

"Your highness, it's me," Jenny said as she knocked on my door before slowly walking in, and I could immediately smell the tray of food in her hands as the smell almost made me vomit out of disgust.

"Take it away," I warned her before she got any closer.

"Please, your highness, I know you're worried about Lenora, but if you really want to find her, then you'll have to eat to gain some strength." She cooed, but why was her voice angering me?

"I said I don't want it. Take it away. " I growled. She was stepping on every nerve I had, and I was on the verge of transferring my rage to her, which I might regret because she had stood by me ever since the incident and had come up with some useful information, but how the hell did she expect me to eat when I had no idea whether Lenora was starving wherever she might be? That is, if she was still alive, which I hoped she was and that I would find her. I hope our child is doing okay too.

"Your highness, you need it.." She tried to say but was unable to complete her sentence as I had thrown the tray of food in her hands as some bowls landed on the floor while others hit her face before falling on the ground, but I wasn't sorry a bit. She should have listened to my warnings.

"Fine, if you're so worried about her to the point of starving yourself, then I'll also starve myself. I won't eat or drink a single thing, and I'll start by bringing Camila to you, but you have to promise to eat something when I bring her to you," she said amidst tears, before sniffing her nose and picking up the broken bowls from the floor and exiting the room.

The moment she left the room, the painful sting in my head returned as I tried to massage it, but it wasn't leaving. The pain only continued to increase without seizing as I wondered if this was how the rest of my life would be without the nagging voice of Lenora or her genuine smile.

I miss every inch of her and her character. I had suffered so hard to win her trust, even by allowing her to heal from her first mate's rejection. I gave her all the time in the world to realise who was better for her and why I was the one. Even though she was naive, I never rushed her into doing anything she wasn't comfortable with. She had all of me that no one else had ever received.

She made me fall harder for her as time went by. I had always thought that loving would be hard even though that was always what I looked up to, but Lenora had made loving very easy for me as I always spent my nights reminiscing on our day activities together.

Whenever she smiled, I always wanted to be the one putting the smile on her face, and whenever she cried, I wished I could kill whoever made her cry, as it had always hurt me to see her that way. But then, my destiny was being unfair to me as I was sure she was going through lots more than tears, yet I couldn't do anything to help her.

Perhaps this was my fault all along. If I had marked her earlier before she got pregnant, then our connection would have never broken and she would be stronger as a Lycan Queen and not just a werewolf. But I was busy giving her space to think all of this through, but then, it was for her own good. Perhaps if I had stayed in the house with her when she asked me to, then she wouldn't have felt the need to leave the house with Ariel and she wouldn't have been abducted.

We had found Ariel on the day she was abducted, but Ariel wasn't found in the place where the accident took place, but she was lying unconsciously on the floor in front of the gate of the pack house. She had serious injuries, one of which was a serious brain injury, and she has been in a coma for three days now, with no idea when she will be awake to tell us what happened.

The driver who had driven them was also nowhere to be found, but after some investigations, it was later known that the driver who had driven them wasn't any of the workers here, as all of the drivers that were hired were still in the packhouse.

This made me realise that someone from the inside had a hand in this by knowing the whereabouts and schedule of the workers in the packhouse, so they were able to carefully plan when the drivers wouldn't be available in order to send out the fake driver to drive them.

He had also taken a route that had nothing to do with where Lenora could be going, as it was an abandoned road that was under construction. It didn't lead to the pack house and Lenora claimed to be on her way back home, as I had vividly remembered our last conversation together.

I might have been known as the Devil's son, but whoever has done this would surely and unfailingly know that I am the Devil himself.
