Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Same day ,

The Pierce's...

1 :02pm

Inside a black themed room , which was furnished with an exotic taste , Tyler Pierce sat confidently on the swivel chair in front of the large table .

His two sided-bangs falling over both sides of his face. He had his usual blank expression on , his brown eyes scanning the content of the files he was working on .

A knock was heard twice on the door , disturbing the silence that engulfed the room.

"Come in" His cold voice echoed through the room, his eyes not leaving the documents.

The door opened slowly and shut back , followed by the clicking of a heeled shoe.

A lady walked in , she was dressed in a black suit pant and white long sleeve office shirt and her blonde hair was neatly packed up in a ponytail , she made her way to his table and stopped a few feet away.

"Sir" She called and he looked up .

His gaze landed on Cherry , his secretary.

"What?" He called sharply.

She secretly rolled her eyes, he didn't fail to see that but he just choose to ignore her.

"Your meeting with your father is about to start" She said.

"How long will it take?" He asked as he adjusted his sitting position to rest his elbow on the arm of the chair.

"One hour"

" Cancel it" He replied , almost immediately.

"Sir?" She called, raising her brows in confusion .

"You heard me quite well" He snapped.

"Pardon me Sir , but you already canceled it twice this week" She argued .

" You're not the boss here , you don't get to say what I do and what not!"

" Cancel it!"

" I'm sorry Sir" she muttered and clicked some things on her iPad

" What else do I have today?"

She scrolled on the iPad for sometime before turning to look at him.

"You have an appointment by 2pm with the CEO from Curr Modelling Company, to finalize the deal with them"

" And the board meeting by 5pm"

"Great, get everything ready before 2"

" Yes sir" she replied with a thin smile.

" You may leave"

She nodded and walked out of the office.

Tyler sighed immediately she walked out.

His phone rang out loudly and he took a quick look at the caller's ID

"Father" He muttered, reading the words inscribed on the phone's screen.

He couldn't help but wonder why his dad was calling him. Was he going to force him into doing what he didn't want to do? Because that was never going to happen!

He decided to ignore the call and focus on his work.

It rang two more times and when it rang the third time , he was about turning off the phone when he caught a glimpse of the caller's name.

GAEL was written boldly on the screen.

' Someone better' he said inwardly.

"Dude" He called out, immediately he answered the call.

"Tyler! How you doing?" Gael asked.

Gael was his best friend. They'd been friends from diapers, and he was the only one Tyler was free with aside his younger sister and Mother.

They were the only three people in his life who gets him.

"Dad has been on my neck" Tyler groaned.

" Seriously?! Doesn't your dad realize he can't force you to marry just anybody?" Gael sighed.

He shrugged his shoulders

"How's Newyork?" He asked.

Gael had recently travelled to NewYork for some business issue as he was heading his father's company.

"I'm back in Chicago" Gael exclaimed.

"Seriously dude?!"

"Yeah and infact I'm driving to your company now, I'll treat you to lunch" Gael replied.

" I have an appointment, maybe next time"

" Seriously dude?? All you do is work , work and work, have some time for yourself! Go out and have fun !"

" Having lunch in a restaurant isn't fun" He rolled his eyes .

" We are going out for lunch , period!"

" I have meetings to attend to , I have load of files to work on"

" Gosh Tyler! Let Cherry handle all that, that's why you have her" Gael exclaimed.

He sighed.

He knew there was no way to talk Gael out of this again.

"Fine"

" Great!!"

"I'll be at your office soon, bye" Gael said and hung up before he could utter a word.

He dropped his phone on the table with a sigh and picked up the office telephone .

He dialed Cherry.

"My office" He ordered and returned the phone back in place.

A minute later there was a knock on the door.

"Come in"

The door opened and Cherry took quick steps in.

"Sir?"

"I'm going out now and I'll be back late , so you'll represent me in the meeting with Curr Modelling Company"

"Make sure he reads every part of the contract before he signs and finalize the deal, whatever documents that needs to be signed by me, send them to me, okay? "

" Sir? "

" I do not like to repeat myself Cherry and you know that!" He snapped angrily.

" Sir-"

" Do you really want to question my orders?Or have you found another job?!" He questioned sharply.

" I'm sorry sir" she quickly muttered.

"Leave"

"Yes sir" she nodded and walked out.

...

" So where to?" Tyler asked Gael as he drove them through the streets of Chicago .

"You'll see" Gael replied, a sly smile hanging on his lips.

"Do not take me to the club Gael" He said seriously.

" It's too early to go to a club, we are just going to have lunch now, so chill" Gael rolled his eyes as he made a turn into a street.

Tyler sighed and rested his head on the seat, wondering where Gael was heading to.

Soon Gael stopped the car and he immediately looked out of the window.

His eyes landed on a bungalow building in white painting.

"FO-VE" was written in huge red capital letters , resting on the top of the building.

There was a logo of love and cutleries beside the name.

"Fove? Seriously?!" He snapped, raising his brows .

"You expect me to eat at a restaurant where they can't even come up with a good name?" He added .

" And you seriously do not expect me to eat in this cheap looking eatery?" He asked as Gael removed the keys from the key hole.

" Dude, it's not cheap looking, the food here taste great!" Gael snapped.

" I'm not"

" Suit yourself ,I'm going in " Gael replied and opened the car's door.

"Fine, just because I don't have a choice" he muttered and got out of the car.

He let out a sigh as they walked into the building.

Tyler hoped things wouldn't get worse than it already was , the last thing he wanted was someone calling the press or the waiter messing up his order.

They took their seats some tables away from the door and almost immediately, a waitress approached them.

"Good day , what may I help you with?" A surprisingly soft feminine voice asked and Tyler looked up.
