The tick tock of a grandfather clock added to the sleepiness of the room. For most, the darkness of a room veiled by the silvery moonlight that shone through a ceiling to floor glass window called for either sexy time under the sheets or a visit to dreamland.
Any of the two didn't apply to Jared whilst he tossed and turned on his bed. Sleep eluded him like the bitch it had always been. On the other hand sex was far from his mind right now, or maybe, just maybe, he did want to bend someone over and repeatedly thrust hard into her till she's a moaning mess.
It'd be such a delicious scene that he'd gladly be stuck on replay but alas! Sleep and the red-head that had been running in his mind lately were both royal bitches. “You can always run but you can never hide from me. I'd find you and break that pretty neck of yours for what you caused or maybe not.”
Resigned to his wakefulness, he had given up on any futile attempts to sleep. Instead, he rose up and groggily headed to his favorite spot inside his home. He stood sky clad in front of the glass window bathing in the view of the moon and the sparkling city lights. Below him, the people going about their lives resembled ants to the ordinary eye, but the same couldn't be said for his case. “ So helpless and tiny,” he pondered. None of them was aware of the blood-red eyes observing their every move from the building's penthouse.
Usually when he did this, it was to search for his next meal that day, but not today. He idly looked down but did not really see anything of interest or truth be told he stared into space with the pretense of looking for prey. He just wanted to bask in the feeling of being above everyone to placate his seething ego.
High places always fascinated him. It gave a sense of power and invincibility that pulsed through his being. That's why he opted to reside in the tallest building of this city and at the topmost floor. It provided him a good grasp of what's down there and feel close to the moon he loved.
A Predator by instinct, it was a given that Jared was drawn to anything that places him above anything else. However, that was one of the reasons for his unrest today. “That bitch!” A black cloud of anger had plagued him and resulted to inappetence for both blood and sex. He'd rather not feed tonight when his craving for something else. The image of curly red hair and green innocent orbs haunted him even while wide awake and that's the other cause of his lividness.
His anger was not solely directed to her but more on the situation and to himself. After he got a taste of her blood, he sought for no one else's but hers. He had asked his two idiots of friends about it, since they were centuries older than him only to be teased and mocked upon his misfortune. They did explain it and assured him that it's absolutely normal for their kind. However, he refused to believe it, but here he was, practically lost in space. He turned to the moon for answers but didn't get any.
Last night's events replayed in his mind as he tried to analyze it and understand what led him to where he was now. It was a night filled with boredom for lack of anything interesting to do. Lethargy clung to him like a sticky fly paper. If it wasn't because of hunger, he'd never gotten out to the streets in the first place.
The mood shifted a bit when he easily spotted a drunken twink leaning on a lamp post. It's evident that the poor soul was so wasted he couldn't even properly stand without support. ”Pathetic aren't you?” He swaggered to his catch for the day with pursed lips, intent on just getting this over with so he could go home.
The said drunk spotted him and eyed him hungrily, “I'm not homophobic but dude I'm the predator here not the other way around.” He staggered to meet him halfway only to stop mid-step and emptied his stomach in front of him. Jared rushed to the twink's side and rubbed his back for him. “Do I look like a fuckin caregiver to you?”
Though he much preferred a challenge before the kill, this was not the kind of challenge he hoped for. His nostrils flared as the acrid smell of vomit and beer welcomed him. He grimaced but then reassessed his options.Torn between disgust and his thirst for blood, he cursed himself and decided that food was more important.
5 puke stop- overs and a more sober drunk later, they were in a dark alleyway that smelled of cum, piss and booze. It's a favorite spot for horn-dogs around the area and some 10 minutes away from his club. The twink grabbed the front of his shirt and started feeling him. He allowed him to continue with his ministrations, it's the least he could do for him in exchange for his blood.
When he tried to kiss him though, he scrunched his face in disgust and skillfully avoided it by leading him to his neck instead. “Dude I know that you deserved to be treated equally as other humans and I don't give a shit about the anti-LGBT and their self-righteous asses.” He attempted to kiss him again and he stopped that from happening by doing the same thing. “As long as you guys have blood I'm good, but have you smelled your breath? No, I'd pass on the offer.”
Finally he got the message and settled with squeezing his butt. He then clumsily rolled his hips against him then started humping against his leg. ”What are you, a dog in heat?” he chuckled. “You had your fun, it's my turn.” Foregoing finesse, he sunk his fangs into his neck and the twink screamed in pleasure.
Pity though, his most recent 'meal' didn't live up to his standards. Now he had to be down the club to remove all traces of vomit and cum. If he wasn't too lazy to hunt for another prey, he'd opted for someone else. The guy was annoyingly handsy on top of being drunk. His blood tasted bland too.
Not even bothering himself to thank the man, Jared just left him half-dazed in that cold alley but made sure to put his clothes back on for decency. Cool as a cucumber albeit the wrinkled clothes and stink, he moseyed towards the club. “Shit! I really need a fucking shower.”
After a few minutes of walking or more like dragging himself, the club loomed into view. It looked ominous and alluring at the same time, just the aesthetic he aimed for. The idea or more like good-humored talk between intoxicated friends was conceived when he offered his two best buds free drinks.
As usual, they ended up in the shabby bar that they frequented because the three of them were indolent enough to go find somewhere else to drink. It also offered seclusion from the busy human infested city center and that's what they favored.
Out on said drinking spree with Elliot and Carlisle, they teased him about having too much money that he could practically buy the bar that they're in. The two even suggested weird names ranging from Blood Hole to Red Metallic drop, but it was Elliot who pushed for Red's fangs, short for Jared's Fangs.
What was meant to be a mere subject of bantering turned out into a reality when the business owner announced bankruptcy the next day. He immediately purchased the place just to humor the two and from there on the three of them turned it into a nightclub instead. It's a club for creatures of the dark like them.
The visual he had the club projected was just befitting to reflect most of their customers. Vampires, Shape shifters, werewolves and all other creatures of the moon, the club were frequented by them. Except for Hybrids since they're already extinct”
Nonetheless, it's a go to for those who were in the area. They even have the occasional humans who were too dumb to distinguish these beings out of the ordinary. Because of that, the club management which comprised of Jared, Elliot and Carlisle, strived to keep those humans as safe as they can within the premises.
Come to think of it, the three of them made a good team. Elliot owned a security and investigation firm so he's in charge of that aspect. Carlisle on the other hand, loved to party and was the proprietor of a known catering and party needs one-stop shop. While Jared has free time, money, connections, and the expertise of a business tycoon for both underground and legit trades. Red's fangs was just one of his babies and side jobs but among his other businesses, this one was his favorite.
The loud sound of the door he closed reeled everyone's attentiveness to him. Each of the workers stopped what they were doing and looked like a deer caught in the headlights. "Carry on" It was a tad too early for it to operate but the hustle and bustle of his workers already brought life to the club. They all went back to their responsibilities while he sought the comfort of his office to freshen up and brush his teeth.
His office was small but it was fully equipped with everything an efficient living space needed. Jared was after all a practical man so it made sense. Committed to removing any traces of his earlier wandering, he grabbed one of the shirts which was meticulously arranged in a mini cabinet, just beside the stylish leather clad sofa bed then headed to the washroom.
While taking a shower, he mulled over business related thoughts to chase out the slothfulness he's in. That's when a certain waitress worried him. Magenta, a recently turned vampire referred by one of their other waitresses, had been acting weird these past few days. Although she showed signs of stability given that she's a newborn, still there's this unsettling feeling that he couldn't shake off or was he overthinking. "Who knows?", he asked no one.
