Anila's POV
I wasn't sure how much time had passed. I cautiously opened the door a crack to look outside. Feeling the murderous intent had dissipated, I was finally relaxed.
I gazed at myself in the mirror, feeling powerless, "So ugly."
Numerous scars on my body had been concealed by many tattoos, yet they still couldn't hide the deeper scars underneath. I've heard that in the neighboring pack, there's a remarkable scar-removal specialist. Be it wounds or tattoos, as long as you pay, he'll help you "cleanse" them completely. Regardless of whether it was destined or not, I had someone in my heart.
I lay on the bed, clutching Dr. Johnny's coat, which carried his scent.
My hand moved down and touched the most private part of my body.
"Doctor...Doctor, I really want you..." I lowered my voice and buried my whole body in the coat.
My bare legs clamped the rough coat, imagining that it was Dr. Johnny pressing against my body.
The friction sent shivers down my spine, and I involuntarily exuded a strong scent and moisture. "Ah..." It's truly embarrassing that I found myself seeking release in the doctor's coat..
This feeling is so empty.
Actually, I always thought the person dancing with me yesterday was Johnny, but it turned out to be Garrett——
...
I was born in the Malaya pack, which annually celebrates The Lupercalia Full Moon Ritual, a crucial ceremony in our community.
This year, I felt an unusual level of nervousness, mainly because it was Garrett's first time overseeing this significant event since he became the Alpha. In tribal lore, the successful execution of the ritual symbolized blessings from the gods for the entire year, ensuring luck and tranquility for our pack. It was a sacred rite, and each Alpha, being responsible for its planning and execution, couldn't afford any mistakes.
Clearly, this was a test for our newly appointed Garrett. In preparation for this ceremony, I hadn't rested properly for an entire month and was cautious not to slack off. Astonishingly, Garrett should had accompanied Liz on a week-long trip, returning just a few days before the ceremony. Liz Gerson, a General's daughter, was his mate. She was haughty and overbearing, but Garrett showered her with affection.
The day before the ceremony, I saw them making out wildly in the room.
I stood outside the door, preparing to brief Garrett on the ceremony's schedule and progress. However, I overheard Liz moaning in pleasure.
"Ah... Alpha, you're too rude, go slower..." Liz's sultry voice seeped from behind the room's door. I could faintly discern that the room appeared to have a deliberate gap, ensuring the sounds within could be distinctly heard. Whether it was intentional or accidental, I paid it no mind; this wasn't the first occurrence."Do you feel good about my big cock?" The sweet slapping sound became louder as Garrett gasped.
tomorrow is the sacred Lupercalia Full Moon Ritual, but they're still at it now... Has Garrett finished preparing for the ceremony? Did Cooper not intervene? I don't know how long I've been standing here, scratching my head, getting a bit irritated. Now I have two choices.
I can interrupt them and start my report as if nothing happened. Or it’s better to report to the general about tomorrow’s list of guards and their assigned locations.
As I lifted my gaze, I accidentally met Garrett's eyes through the door crack. He wore a smug expression, sweat glistening on his handsome face. He smirked, his body moving intensely, and there was a mischievous glint in his eyes. Did he consider me an audience to spice things up for them?! I clenched the documents in my hand, flipped my long hair, and left without a word.
"Oh, how much longer will it take for Garrett to come to his senses? He's already become the Alpha of our pack, yet he behaves so recklessly!" Semanth's emotions were evidently affected by mine. She never really liked Garrett, and now she was also outraged on my behalf.
"Enough, Semanth," I replied, feeling uncertain about why he had become this way. Originally, I was not meant to assume the role of Beta; it was supposed to be my brother's responsibility to inherit. But then...
At this point, I stopped in the middle of the corridor. I lowered my gaze, and an unbidden tear welled in my eyes. I still couldn't forget the unjust death of my family. In the midst of my thoughts, I heard a voice to my left. "Hey, isn't this our busy Miss Anila? Why are you standing here lost in thought?" It was none other than Johnny, the doctor, carrying a bundle of herbs.
I quickly wiped the tear that had escaped the corner of my eye, not wanting him to see my vulnerable side. "I was just on my way to meet General Bray to discuss security arrangements for tomorrow."
I pursed my lips, attempting to calm myself.I could hardly meet the radiant smile in Johnny's bright and clear eyes. He exuded a gentle kindness that made him approachable. What's more, Johnny was known for his compassion, having established a welfare home within the pack. He sheltered many children, and whenever I had the chance, I would lend a hand. Garrett was not even a match for him. "Hey, stop chatting; I sense a strong presence of malice nearby," Semanth whispered, lowering her tone. She growled softly, keeping alert.
I turned to see a glimpse of a silver-white tail running past. The exquisite fur could only belong to Garrett, as only an Alpha possessed such beauty. I shivered, wondering why wasn't he was here when he should be with Liz. The traces of his malevolence were still lingering in the air.
