"It's been a while." Dominic's voice was as calm as I remembered.

I stopped a few feet away from him near the corner of the lower deck, where polished wooden panels shielded us from the main party. From here, Silas couldn't see us, though the music and chatter still drifted faintly through the night air.

I folded my arms loosely. "You could've come over instead."

"What stopped you?"

His gaze drifted briefly over my shoulder before returning to mine. "I had a feeling your fiancé wouldn't appreciate it."
