Selena’s POV

Charles and Vanessa's voices sounded very close to me, so I crept out into the hallway and looked down to find Charles and Vanessa standing at the corner of the stairs. I could hear their conversation clearly from the second floor.

"Mom, I don't approve of you letting Penelope stay with us," I heard Charles say firmly, "My wife is only Selena. Now Selena is pregnant. She needs a quiet environment and I can't let Penelope affect her mood."
