The moment Leila’s warmth vanished from my arms, my eyes blink open.
I don’t have to look far for her. Sitting cross legged on the floor in front of me is Vincent. He has her in his arms, stroking her fur and whispering something to her that I don’t catch. It’s supposed to be a heartwarming sight, but I don’t feel it.
I notice immediately that his shoulders are tensed, and he doesn’t look relaxed. There’s a dark aura around him. Lelia’s deep purrs don’t hide the hint of anger in his voice.
