My heart thudding in my ears are the only sounds I hear.
Was it a good idea to lead Vincent to my office? While my guests were still downstairs? And a few of them probably saw us leaving hand in hand?

Upstairs, the sounds of the party are reduced to a hush, replaced by the air conditioning whooshing through the air.
I distend from Vincent and walk ahead, making a show of sweat hung for a flower vase even though I knew they were all filled up.
