I wiped the tears clouding my vision. “I promise never to hurt you again. I’ll find Simon and make him pay for the troubles he caused you…us. Be rest assured everything will be fine. All will be well.” I placed a peck on her chin, expectant eyes waiting to see her stir but I’m met with her pale and cold face.
