The forest was a blur.

Branches tore at my sides as I ran, my paws thudding against the damp earth. My breath came in sharp bursts, each one burning in my lungs. The cold air bit at my fur, but I pushed harder, faster, because every second that passed felt like a piece of Caspian slipping further away from me.

My limbs were heavy, the long run wearing on me, but I didn’t slow down. I couldn’t. Not when the full moon’s light shone so bright above me, making my wolf restless and my chest tight with dread.
